Very few people want to spend their life without friends. It’s an amazing feeling to have true friends that are loyal, understanding, forgiving, loving, caring, and faithful! It has been said that if you end up with five really close friends over the course of your life that you should consider yourself to be really blessed.

Think about it…How many really close friends do you truly have? I am not talking about acquaintances, but about the kind of friends that know everything about you and still love you and vice versa. True friendship is a blessing and should be treated as so.

And what if you don’t have many friends? Don’t sweat it…quality over quantity!

God’s Word offers advice on the type of friends you should have and need, and what kind of person you need to be to get & keep good friends.

You have to be a good friend to have one! Having friends is a wonderful thing…a true gift from God!

{John 15:13} There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

{Psalms 15:3} Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends.

{Proverbs 12:26} The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray.

{Proverbs 18:24} There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.

{Matthew 5:47} If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that.

{Proverbs 16:28} A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.
{Proverbs 17:17} A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.

{Proverbs 26:20} Fire goes out without wood, and quarrels disappear when gossip stops.

{Proverbs 27:17} As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

{1 Corinthians 15:33} Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”

{Hebrews 13:1} Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters.

Godly Friends Bible Devotionals & Studies

{Ephesians 4:32} Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

{Proverbs 18:19} An offended friend is harder to win back than a fortified city. Arguments separate friends like a gate locked with bars.

{Exodus 23:2} “You must not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you are called to testify in a dispute, do not be swayed by the crowd to twist justice.

{Hebrews 13:2} Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

“I asked God to protect me from my enemies…And I started losing friends.”

Friendship is not always easy and it can be difficult to find true friendship! It should be a two-way road, just as any other relationship. Just as you need to be a good friend, you must have good friends as well, for friends who are draining or selfish will bring you discontent. Make sure your friends bring you closer to God, not drag you away from Him. Be sure they show you the love, care & understanding that you need & deserve, and be sure to do the same for your friends.

Remember to cherish your true friends, for they are a Gift from God!

Dear Lord, Please surround me with godly friends who will bring me closer to you! Help me to find friends who are loyal & caring of my needs. Please lead me to be the kind of friend that is caring, loving, forgiving, and understanding! Let me be their listening ear and shoulder to cry on when times are tough. Grant me the wisdom on what to say to help heal their wounds and grant me understanding & love! Lord, help me to recognize the friends who are not worthy of me and give the strength to let them go. And help me to recognize my true friends and to appreciate and cherish them! AMEN!

Blessings & love….

Blessed Mama
